Sam & Drew 8/24/08

On Sunday I assisted with a wedding up north. The ceremony took place on a beautiful little beach, and while the weather had been lovely the proceeding week, on Sunday it poured.

Making her way through the puddles on the way to her "first look" with the groom.

They were all such troopers; allowing for some unique shots with umbrellas as well as being willing to go it without and get a little soggy.

This particular groom's-men was very willing to help out when he could.

An attempt to splice some pictures together for the "panoramic" view.

The cake topper cracked me up.

And I've never seen the search for the garter go quite so wrong.

It was definitely a memorable experience. Congratulations!

Fishing for Flare

Went down to the docks the other day with the family. I thought I'd try working on getting a good lens flare effect.

Obviously I still need more practice, but it was fun, and a nice change of pace.

Travis & Jessica 8/10/08

On Sunday I got a last minute chance to help shoot a wedding. Literally moments before we started I got back from picking up a replacement for my 18-55mm lens (thank you Su). It made such a difference in the small spaces of the bride's room and with being able to easily fit all the wedding party into a shot. I love my 55-200 lens (thank you Robb), but it's just hard with small spaces.

The venue was great! Beautiful with great natural lighting indoors. The owner does a great job keeping things organized and moving along, in addition to making beautiful cakes.

The couple was really fun too. Some of their facial expressions when they're around each other are just priceless.

The groom requested a pecan pie for himself.

Congratulations Travis and Jessica! It was beautiful.

Brieanna & Shaun 8/8/08

Friday I got the opportunity to practice a lot more with indoor and low lighting shots. I also got first hand experience in the frustrations of taking pictures in direct sunlight.

While there were a lot of unique moments to Brieanna and Shaun's day here are some of the more "regular" shots...

... some funny guys...

... some cute kids ...

... and some experimental, "artsy" stuff.
