Family Devine

This past weekend I was blessed to be able to attend the wedding of one of my nephews.  It was beautiful, and a bit odd to just sit and not work.  The day after the nuptials the family of the groom - i.e. my sister and all her kids, and grandkids - got together for a family session.  It was so fun to capture their energy and love for each other.

Blackberry Season

I love this time of year.  I love that there has been sunshine, and that there is evidence of the sunshine in the form of delicious berries being ripened.   We've had a great time wandering near our neighborhood and picking bowl fulls.

Though, maybe I don't love the thorns so much.

Summer's End

Summer is coming to a close.  We're getting ready for the next chapter of things.  And she's looking so grown up with her new hair cut.

Life Skills

 At some point you gotta let go and let them make a mess and learn a new skill.  She was so thrilled to paint her own nails :)

Pretty in Pink

I can admit it - I dye my hair.  For a while now my little girl has asked me if she could dye her's, and up until today I said that, no, she's too young.  However, this week school officially ended and since she's now basically in college I figured it was time to start her down her path of piercings, tattoos, and goth makeup with a can of spray on hair dye.

She was thrilled.

Last Sunday my friend made a beautiful bride.  It was such a joy to watch her beam from the moment of their first look to when the car took them away.

Congratulations you two!  Thank you for letting me be such a big part of your special day.

Moving On

We met this family right after they moved to this house. We've had birthdays and game days and good talks in this place - with these people. It's been good times, and now we get to have good times in a new place. So glad you aren't moving too far away. Good luck in the next chapter of your adventure.

Spring

Happy to finally have some moments of sun this spring.

Animals of the Masai Mara

At the end of our trip we were taken to the Masai Mara for some time of reflection. It was so amazing to see these awesome animals out in creation. There were a few points where adrenaline was pumping from a triggered fight or flight response - it was awesome.

This was one of those slightly freaked out moments. He was pacing right outside the jeep, and when he looked right at me I could have sworn he was considering making a jump for it.


Another of those moments. This guy was really agitated. He stood in the middle of the road for a bit, threw some dirt at us, and then really did make a charge for it just as we hit the gas to go past him. = Awesome!
